I’m Aisling, an HCPC-registered Creative Art Psychotherapist with nearly 10 years’ experience supporting children, young people, adults and families.

My approach is creative, relational and trauma-informed. I aim to provide a safe, compassionate therapeutic space where each person can explore their experiences at a pace that feels manageable for them.

I recognise that people are shaped not only by their individual experiences, but also by their relationships, family life and wider environment. Where appropriate, I work alongside parents, carers, schools and other professionals to support the wider network around a child or young person.

ABOUT AISLING

My experience:

I have worked across primary and secondary schools, community settings, charities and private practice, supporting people with a wide range of needs, experiences and complexities. My work has also involved collaborating with social care professionals and other services supporting children, young people and families.

My professional background began with an undergraduate degree in Creative Arts Therapies, where I developed experience across a range of creative approaches, including play, music, movement and dance. I went on to achieve a First-Class Honours degree in Creative Art Psychotherapy and later completed postgraduate study in Systemic Practice and Family Therapy.

How I work:

My work is creative, relational and tailored to the individual. Therapy does not always need to rely on words alone, and sessions may draw on art, play, movement and other creative approaches where appropriate.

These different ways of working can provide meaningful opportunities to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to communicate verbally.

I also consider each person within the wider context of their relationships, family and environment. This allows space not only for individual experiences to be understood, but also for the wider influences and systems surrounding them.

Working with Children and Families:

When working with children and young people, I recognise the importance of the relationships and systems around them.

Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools and other professionals while maintaining clear therapeutic boundaries and protecting the child or young person’s therapeutic space.

A personal perspective:

I’m also a mum of three young children. Alongside my professional training and experience, this brings a grounded understanding of family life, relationships and some of the everyday realities of parenting.
