What is creative psychotherapy?

Creative psychotherapy combines psychological and therapeutic approaches with opportunities for creative expression.

Depending on the individual, sessions may involve talking, art materials, play, imagery, stories, movement or other creative approaches.

Do I need to be artistic?

No. There is no need to be artistic or to have any previous creative experience.Creative psychotherapy is about the therapeutic process, not artistic ability.

Do I have to use creative materials?

No. Some people find creative approaches helpful while others prefer mainly to talk. Sessions are tailored around the individual.

Do you work with both children and adults?

Yes. The Creative Therapy Hub supports children, young people, adults, parents and families.

Where are you based?

The Creative Therapy Hub is based in Northern Ireland and works with individuals, families, schools and organisations throughout Northern Ireland.Please contact me to discuss location and availability.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are up to 45 minutes.

How often will I attend therapy?

Sessions are on a weekly basis.

This will be discussed before therapy begins.

How long will therapy last?

There is no single length of therapy that is right for everyone.

The duration will depend on the individual, their needs and the type of therapeutic work being undertaken.

This will be discussed with you as part of the therapeutic process.

How involved are parents in a child’s therapy?

Parents and carers are important in supporting a child’s emotional wellbeing.

The level of parental involvement will depend on the child’s age, needs and circumstances.

This will be discussed before therapy begins.

What happens after I contact you?

I will first discuss your enquiry with you and gather enough information to understand what support you are looking for.

We can then consider whether I am the appropriate person to support you and discuss the next steps.

Do you work with neurodivergent children and adults?

Yes, therapy is adapted to each persons needs.

Do I need a diagnosis to access therapy?

No, you do not need a formal diagnosis.

Do you work with schools?

Yes. Support for schools can include therapeutic work, groups, workshops and other professional input depending on the needs of the school.

What are your fees?

Fees vary depending on the type of service.

Individual therapy: £65

Parent consultation: £150

Parent-and-child sessions: £80

Can therapy be adapted for neurodivergent needs?

Yes, sessions can be adapted to individual needs eg. communication, sensory and processing needs, with the aim to create a space that feels safe and accessible.

Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is an important part of therapy.

There are, however, limits to confidentiality, particularly where there are concerns about safety or safeguarding.

Confidentiality and its limits will be explained before therapeutic work begins.

What if I am not sure what type of support I need?

That is completely fine.
